Furnace with four pots 360° Rotating System

  • The 4 Pots furnaces designed by Falorni is in the middle between the well known pot furnace with 8 – 10 – 12 pots with an heat regenerative system and the traditional Pot furnace with a single or double pot.
  • The 4 Pots Furnaces permit to work, everyday, for one work shift also if you use closed pot, this is possible thanks to the rotating system, created by Falorni, because the furnace can rotate of 360° and bring the pots with the refined glass in the working zone, while the other pot go in the charging and melting area and they will be ready for the following day.
  • The heating system of this furnace is from top to the bottom, it means that the burner is placed in the center of the vault and direct the flame among the four pots. The Smokes draught is positioned in the front of each pots at 130 mm from the support sole, in this way force the flame to wrap around the pots without pass by on the surface but passing under the pots.
  • This system permit that the hottest point be in the center of the furnace close to the pot's support sole.
  • The pots could be positioned at an height of 130 mm on apposite capitals of Electrofused material or Mullite and permit, in this way, at the flame to heat the pot's support sole as well.

Four Pots: Open and closed Type

  • With this heating system is possibile to use also open pots with very good results because the contact between flame and glass anyhow is limited. Using open pots is possible to melt the glass in all the 4 pots in about 12/13 hours and therefore can work everyday with the full capacity of melted glass.
  • The furnace control system is automatic type with a regulation PID. In the control panel is positioned a Regulator / Programmer of temperature joined with a thermocouple placed in the center of furnace. With this Regulator / Programmer the operator can arrange the set point of required temperature. As option can be placed 4 different thermocouple, one on each pot, with 4 different temperature indicator placed on the control panel that permit, therefore, to control the real temperature on each pot.

HOMOGENEITY OF TEMPERATURE

  • The 4 Pots furnace has been studied to reach a very homogeneous internal temperature for all the 4 pots, but is possible to change the temperature of a single zone regulating the smokes draught. Each pot has in the bottom part 2 smokes draught with concerning Shutters adjustable from outside. Closing the above mentioned shutter you can reduce the flame that can reach the selectioned area so you can reduce the temperature of that pot of about 30°C. This could be useful, specially, when we want to produce coloured glass in open pots.

DIMENSIONS AND GAS CONSUMPTIONS

  • The maximum dimensions of this kind of furnace is:
  • External diameter 3200 mm with 4 Pots of 1100 X 700 mm with a glass capacity of 850 kg (each) and a workable glass of 550 kg (each).
  • The Gas consumption for 24/h cycle (melting and gathering cycle) for a furnace that produce 2,2 Ton of glass per day (4 x 550kg) is 1.550 Nm3 of natural gas with open pots.

  • The advantages of a 4 pots furnaces are the following:
  • Low investment if compared to the cost of the traditional furnace with 8 – 10 – 12 pots.
  • Very low gas consumption if compared to a single or double pot furnace
  • Chance to have the furnace rotating system that help the following operation: production with machines, replacement of pots, charging operations, etc.
  • Extreme flexibility: can be switch on and off as a single pot furnace so can increase the production flexibility

AUTOMATIC COMBUSTION CONTROL

All the main furnace process variables are automatically controlled by precision closed loop controllers. The signals, derived from a comprehensive set of plant sensors, are taken to a central control and instrumentation panel. Manual by-pass switches are available for all variables for setting up or emergency use. From the central control panel it is possible to start and check all the plant.

CONTROL AND INSTRUMENTATION PANEL INCLUDING:

  • Operation selector and push buttons for the complete furnace.
  • Furnace temperature controllers Eurotherm.
  • Gas flow digital controller.
  • Air Flow digital controller.

TEMPERATURE CONTROL

The Target Temperature is set on the main controller that controls air and gas controllers. Programs for different thermal cycles can be performed.

AIR CONTROL

The air controller controls the electronic Inverter that changes the speed of the fan. Fan motor always runs at minimum speed. Then energy consumption and noise are minimum.

GAS CONTROL

The gas flow is controlled through the electric valve operated by the gas controller.

AIR/GAS RATIO

The system checks any time the proper quantities of gas and air to the burner.

Four pots furnace feeded with fuel heavy oil

  • The above introduced furnace can be provided with an automatic combustion system fully feeded with fuel heavy Oil, Or with a double chamber burner suitable for a mixed functioning with oil or LPG gas.
  • The Double chamber burner has a Gas / Oil nozzle insert in, with this system you can let work the furnace with the fuel oil during the melting phase and with LPG gas during the maintenance (gathering time), in order have a very clen flame usefull if you need to produce very high quality glass.
  • The working system of this furnace, with the burner positioned on the top of the vault and with the flame that goes from top to down, has been studied for the furnace feeded with fuel oil because with this system you can avoid that the oil combustion residuals falling down in the glass forming glass bubbles.
  • The Smokes draught is positioned in the front of each pots at 130 mm from the support sole, in this way force the flame to wrap around the pots without pass by on the surface but passing under the pots favoring an homogenous heating of the glass.
  • With this type of furnace is possible to use open pots of bigger dimensions and make high quality glass melting in 12 / 13 hours. The working temperature of the furnace with open pots is 1450°C.
  • The maximum dimensions of this kind of furnace is:
  • External diameter 3200 mm with 4 Pots of 1100 X 700 mm with a glass capacity of 850 kg (each) and workable glass of 550 kg (each).
  • The consumption for 24/h cycle (melting and gathering cycle) for a furnace that produce 2,2 Ton of glass per day (4 x 550kg) is:
